Mayor's Mission Statement: To improve the efficiency and use of all Borough Departments and programs. To identify and eliminate ineffectiveness in our providing of service. To evaluate and add resources where they protect and improve the quality of life for the residents of the Borough of Lincoln Park.
Mayor Runfeldt's May Message:
It is with great excitement that I inform you of a new movement in the borough called “Local Pride in Lincoln Park.” I am pleased to introduce Adam Colaizzi as the chairperson for the campaign nicknamed “LP in LP”. Adam along with a dedicated core of town residents and borough administration have put together a program that highlights all the magnificent things that make Lincoln Park worthy of our inclusion as one of the top 5 places to live in New Jersey.
The following is a brief description by Adam of what you can expect in the future from this new program.
“Local Pride in Lincoln Park” will give the borough a chance to recognize the people, businesses, programs, places, history and other aspects of Lincoln Park that make our borough special. It will also serve to introduce (or many times re-introduce) our residents to all that Lincoln Park offers. It will be a year-round commitment, emphasizing the town’s appearance, attitude, pride and potential.
Over the course of the next few weeks, we will be announcing activities and events as part of the “LP in LP” program. Among the initial projects being planned are a town-wide clean-up day, landscaping contests and decorating contests. In addition, we will be using space in the monthly Beavertown Journal to highlight upcoming events, as well as a “Local Pride Spotlight” feature, where we will recognize a deserving resident or business for their contributions to Lincoln Park. We will also include a poll question each month, to give the residents in town a chance to make their preferences known. The poll results will be posted in the following month’s journal.
Also, we will be looking to expand the pride theme to include public displays such as banners, street flags and car clings with a distinctive “Local Pride in Lincoln Park” logo, which will hopefully become an iconic symbol for our borough, and an instant acknowledgment to others that they are in a town that is truly proud of its heritage and spirit.
The idea for this program came as a result of looking for a way to accent the multitude of positive features we have here in Lincoln Park – many of which may not even be obvious to residents of our borough. Lincoln Park deserves strong, positive recognition, in the media as well as the surrounding area, other than that which we receive when the rivers overflow their banks. The Local Pride initiative is a first step toward that end.
If you would like to be involved in any way, please feel free to contact me, either via email at acolaizzi@gmail.com, or through the Mayor’s office. I am happy and willing to listen to anyone’s ideas and comments. I look forward to working together on this next chapter in Lincoln Park’s legacy.
I look forward to participating in the “Local Pride in Lincoln Park” campaign and expect that you will as well. I am also very pleased to take this opportunity to announce that Adam has been named the Lakeland Hills YMCA Citizen of the Year from Lincoln Park. An awards dinner recognizing Adam and the other Citizen of the Year recipients from the area will be held on Wednesday , June 4th. If you are interested in attending please contact my office for additional information. Dave Runfeldt MayorRunfeldt@bolp.org , (973) 270-2020.
