2012 REASSESSMENT INFORMATION
The reassessment for the
Borough of Lincoln Park, for tax year 2012, is now complete. For

Functions of the Tax Collector:
Receive and collect all current and delinquent real and personal property taxes and charges, receive penalties and interest pursuant to law and account for all collections in such form and manner and at such time as may be prescribed by the Treasurer.
Make or cause to be made and certify searches for taxes and other liens on real property in the Borough as may be authorized by law and charge and collect for the use of the Borough the fee required for any such search pursuant to law.
Perform the functions of a Collector of Taxes under general law, including, without limitations thereto, the preparation and mailing of tax bills and the maintenance of tax accounting records in such manner as may be prescribed or approved by the Treasurer; and assist the Division of Assessments in the preparation of the annual tax list and duplicate.
Deposit daily to the credit of the Borough all money received in one (1) or more depositories selected by the Council, maintain full and complete records and accounts of all sums collected and received according to such procedure and systems as may be prescribed or approved by the Treasurer and make such monthly reports and accounting of the funds of the Borough collected, received and deposited as may be required, which reports and accounts shall be filed as a public record and accounts shall be filed as a public record with the Borough Clerk.
Compute and record sewer charges, if any, as required by Ordinance.
Maintain books and records to record all charges, payments, credits and delinquencies in sewer and miscellaneous accounts.
Miscellaneous Fees
-Replacement of Lost Tax Title Lien Certificate: $100.00
-Tax Search: $10.00
-Continuation Search: $2.00 (Per each calendar year)
-Bounced Check Fee: $25.00
-Duplicate Bill Fee: $2.00
Due Dates for Quarterly Taxes
1st Quarter Due February 1st
2nd Quarter Due May 1st
3rd Quarter Due August 1st
4th Quarter Due November 1st
There are 10 grace days for each quarter. (Last day to pay is the 10th of each quarter.)
Payments can be made in person (in cash, check or money order) at the Tax Collector's office or by mail (in check or money order). Please enclose the quarterly stub along with your check or money order. If you would like a receipt, please enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope.
Tax bills are mailed once a year usually the
beginning of July. We do not send reminders out for each quarter.
The tax bill you will receive has the 3rd and 4th quarter of
2011 and the 1st and 2nd of 2012.

Delinquent Taxes & Water/Sewer
The next Tax Sale will be held Wednesday, June 29, 2011
at 10:00 am. in the Council Chambers at the Borough of
Lincoln Park Municipal Building. At that time if your
account has any outstanding property taxes and/or water and
sewer balances for the year 2010, you will be included in
the Tax Sale. A lien will be brought against your property
if payment is not received prior to the Tax Sale. The Tax
Sale advertisement can be found in the Daily Record on
Wednesday, June 8th and June 15th.

Deductions
There are deductions available for Veterans and Senior Citizens and Totally Disabled. Please call the Tax Collector at 973-270-2061 for eligibility requirements.
Tax Freeze Program
(a.k.a. Senior Reimbursement Program): The new applications for
2010 are not available yet. They hopefully will be available
sometime in the beginning of March for new applicants. If you
are already on the program you will receive the application
directly from the State

SENIORS:
Claim Form
Annual Property Tax Deduction for Senior Citizens, Disabled Persons: Annual deduction of up to $250 from property taxes for homeowners age 65 or older or disabled who meet certain income and residency requirements. This benefit is administered by the local municipality.
VETERANS:
Claim Form
Annual Deduction for Veterans: Annual deduction of up to $250 from taxes due on the real or personal property of qualified war veterans and their unmarried surviving spouses. This benefit is administered by the local municipality.
DISABLED VETERANS: Claim Form
Property Tax Exemption for Disabled Veterans: Full exemption from property taxes on a principal residence for certain totally and permanently disabled war veterans and their unmarried surviving spouses. Unmarried surviving spouses of servicepersons who died on wartime active duty may also qualify. This benefit is administered by the local municipality.
