The Planning Board consists of 9 regular members and 2 alternate members consisting of certain classes and serving for specific terms. All are appointed by the Mayor except the Class II position which is appointed by the governing body. Alternate members serve 2-year terms.

Responsibilities

The Division of Planning shall be under the administrative direction of the Director of Development. Professional planning duties and responsibilities shall be performed by the Director of Development, if such person shall be a duly licensed New Jersey Planner, and, if not so licensed, then such activities shall be performed by the Director of Development under the review of a licensed New Jersey Planner.


The purpose of the Planning Board is to establish a pattern for the use of the land and buildings on the Master Plan and to encourage municipal action to guide the appropriate development of land in a manner that will promote the public health, safety, morals and general welfare of the people.

The Development Regulations are comprised of 2 chapters which can be accessed through the links below:

  • Chapter 17: Planning - The purpose of this chapter is to establish patterns and to regulate the use of land and buildings based on the Master Plan
  • Chapter 28: Zoning Ordinance - The purpose of this chapter is to encourage the most appropriate use of land throughout the borough

Zoning Maps are available in the Borough Clerk's Office for $15. Copies of the Development Regulations, Chapters 17 and 28, are available in the Borough Clerk's Office for $100.
